As teachers we need to be finding ways to uncover the learning so that our pupils become critical thinkers, powerful communicators and life-long learners. Questioning the learning is one way to achieve this. We need to design the learning environment by asking questions about what pupils need to learn. The following questions help us to uncover the learning:

1. What do the pupils need to learn?
2. What do they already know?
3. How will they get their?
4. Why does the learning matter?
5. How well do I expect them to do it?

The next step is then to devise ways to use questioning in the classroom to uncover the learning. The presentation below provides some strategies that you can use in the classroom.
